What Is Your Favourite "cheesy" Song

I'm in the process of burning some audio cd's, and have decided to make one with ultimately cheesy music. You know the songs I'm talking about... they are songs that pretty much everyone knows, and a lot of us actually LIKE them, but overall, they are really cheesy. What is your favourite cheesy song? Are there any others you could recommend I add to my cd? Here are some examples of what I have so far: "I will survive" - Gloria Gaynor "Who let the Dogs out" - Baha Men "Canadian Idiot" - Weird Al "It's not unusual" - Tom Jones "I'm too sexy" - Right Said Fred

The ones you mentioned are better than the only one I can think of. I always kind of liked the theme from "The Love Boat." I know, it's a little weird, but I don't think of a few of the ones you mentioned as cheesy. But, that's just my opinion. Good luck. [SueRod]
Well if she can submit The Love Boat theme, then I've got a few that I'd like to submit (and some are actually based from real songs!) Friends theme (actual song) M*A*S*H theme (actual song) Miami Vice theme (I think this may have been an actual song) Will those do you good? [scorpiobabes]

Oh Man, you are really asking for it, aren't you? LOL! :) Here's a few... "....Discovery Channel" http://youtube.com/watch?v=ygkvjUw5ZEk "... Smells Like Nirvana" http://youtube.com/watch?v=ixyTNd-Ln38 Dancing Queen Karaoke Article: http://www.apsense.com/article/110025.html I just love this stuff! :) [peaceful]
Those are really cheesy songs and videos... oh my! However, they will not be making it onto my cd. lol. [CanadaGal]

Wow, cheesey music...I gotta think for a second here, since there are so many songs to choose from! I'm also going to try to get the correct titles (I'm so anal about these things!), so here goes (and they're not all cheesy!): Don't Stop Believin' - Journey Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison You Are Always On My Mind - Pet Shop Boys Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison (but I like Van Halen's version too!) Jersey Girl - Bruce Springsteen (you'd have to be a Jersey Girl to appreciate it!) American Pie - Don Maclean (admit it, you've sung it) There's tons more...I just want to thank you for filling my head up with these songs! There's plenty more, but I've got a 100 or so discussions to respond to yet! I can't wait to see everyone else's responses. [scorpiobabes]
Gee, thanks! If I go click on those links, I'll be trying to sing like Thomas Dolby all day! (looking like him sends shudders down me....yikes!) Maybe I'll head over to YouTube and find something to make you shudder! [scorpiobabes]

rawr! the Numa Numa Dance song!! this is a link to the video that started the cult sensation.. but the original version is by a band named 0Zone called Dragostea din tei. absolutely impssible to sing in romanian without spitting all over yerself! enjoy! http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/206373 [tessah]
umm sid.. im aware of the song "good morning starshine" ,its by john denver and it is even close to being the same tune as Dragostea din tei. [tessah]

I can't help it, I just love "Don't Worry, Be Happy" Here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55-HLl22SUk I did find this - hope you like Ice Cube! http://www.last.fm/music/Ice+Cube/+videos/+1-OD9WzNWAh9c I found this and I just ROLLED http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/FUNNY%2520Irish%2520Drinking%2520Songs/similarartists [ljegbers]
I'm so disappointed the one that just made me ROLL was a song about a son getting cause masterbating. His father walked in on him. I've been trying and I can't find it again. GGRR That's the one that I really wanted you to hear too. FYI: I just love the beer song, its a great thing at a party! [ljegbers]

I would have to say, I love Bootie Call or Because I got High by the Afromen. Those are a couple of my top faves but I have a cheesy list a mile long. LOL [skinnychick]
good enough that I will be including it on my cd. :D [CanadaGal]

How could you not even consider the Bob and Doug MacKenzie masterpiece "Take Off" (featuring guest vocals by Geddy Lee of Rush)? [myklj999]
haha... I actually prefer Bob and Doug's version of the 12 days of Christmas. :D [CanadaGal]

How about The Safety Dance by Men at Work? It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls. Did anyone mention Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer? And although I consider nothing done by him to be cheesy, how about Wild World by my favorite, my Cat Stevens? I'll see what else I can come up with.... [novataylor]
I remember being in sixth grade, MTV is so new they're playing MUSIC VIDEOS! and that song being on the radio! I need the Weather Girls to come and sing about raining men here by me! But I digress...so here's another one.. I'm Fat by Weird Al Yankovick (not that I'm Bad by MJ isn't cheesy itself!). [scorpiobabes]

Remember the Macarena song and the dance that went along with it? That was cheesey so was putting on the ritz by taco and the safety dance by men without hats! Now I have all these annoying songs in my head...thanksdoh [whywiki]
Oh my gosh...I had a screensaver...but instead of the Macarena, it was the Macaroni! It made for some interesting conversations when my computer defaulted to that and I had to answer the phone! I know what songs we should be looking for now..One Hit Wonders! I think Time Life came out with an entire series of them. OOOOhhhh, this'll be fun! [scorpiobabes]

Oh wow, you asked for it! I found a great website (www.onehitwondercentral.com), where the songs are grouped into decades! Of course I went to the 80s first (incredibly cheesy songs!) and here's what I found (only songs I know made the cut): The Vapors: Turning Japanese Lipps, Inc: Funkytown Devo: Whip It Bow Wow Wow: I Want Candy Toni Basil: Mickey Waitresses: I Know What Boys Like (not truly a one-hit wonder, but maybe for the 80s!) Wall of Voodoo: Mexican Radio Thomas Dolby: She Blinded Me With Science Kajagoogoo: Too Shy Jump in the Saddle Band: Curly Shuffle Dexy's Midnight Runners: Come on Eileen Elmo & Patsy: Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (my dad's personal favorite!) Shannon: Let the Music Play Nena: 99 Luftballoons Jack Wagner: All I Need Mary Jane Girls: In My House (I really think they were the precursor to the Pussycat Dolls) Georgia Satellites: Keep Your Hands to Yourself Timbuk 3: The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades Patrick Swayze and Wendy Fraser: She's Like the Wind Buster Poindexter: Hot, Hot, Hot Midnight Oil: Beds are Burning Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock: It Takes Two Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians: What I Am Any more I'm missing here? Now I've got to have my 80s music fix! [scorpiobabes]
I love writing songs for my Ladies, Scorpiobabes... I have a particular fondness for redheads, and at one time I had three girlfriends with red hair (No jealousy, Open relationships)... I wrote a tune called "Is She Really Red?" for them, the lyrics are rated XXX, but it's all in fun! :) [peaceful]

"Numa Numa" and "Can't Touch That". Happy and funny.. :P [Serenity333]

How about "Video killed the radio star" by The Buggles. OH and don't forget "Margaretaville" by Jimmy Buffet. [barrudaki]
ah yes.. the buggles' song! Excellent! I will add that one to the cd. :D [CanadaGal]

rotflmbo, I LOVE Right Said Fred and I'm too Sexy! I haven't heard that in ages. It cracked me up, thanks for the reminder. My favorite is Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin(sp). What about Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, by Cydi Lauper? Is that cheesy? I bet you could find a ton of them to remember if you searched by 'One Hit Wonders'. LOL! Post your list, I would love to see it. [Irishfrndly65]
Here's the list (23 songs in all): Mickey Play that funky music Because I got high Video killed the radio star I'm too sexy These are the Dave's I know (Kids in the Hall) The safety dance Sugar sugar Bruce's philosopher's song (Monty Python... beer drinking song) Sweet Caroline Grease megamix Our House I got you babe Canadian Idiot Who let the dogs out You've lost that loving feeling I will survive It's not unusual (yes, Tom Jones lol) Monster mash Whip it Kung fu fighting Mexican radio Walk the dinosaur [CanadaGal]

OH Oh Terry Jacks Seasons in the Sun.... Paul Anka Having my baby.... Melody I got a brand new key....Clint Holmes Playground in my mind.... rottfflmao Great cheesy songs... If you don't knows these right off the bat I will find you the links... Heck they are great!!!!! LMAO [Angelwhispers]
the only song I recognize is "Seasons in the Sun"... that song makes me so sad. It was actually played at a friend's funeral in high school. So every time I hear that song, I think of Pavlina (she died in a car accident when we were 18). Sorry for the buzz kill. lol. [CanadaGal]

Oh Blah Di! Oh Blah Da! Life goes ooooo-OOOOOONNNNN LALA how the life goes on!! [II2aTee]
That IS a fun song... catchy too. [CanadaGal]

okay how about the cheesy music from Gilligans island, or killing me softly, or todays a great day to Die, Smile be happy, or The final curtain . thats my addition. [Hatley]
The gilligan's island theme song is actually a favourite of mine. lol. I love old tv show theme songs... I used to own a bunch of "Televisions Greatest Hits" cds. I'm such a geek. lol. [CanadaGal]

I completely forgot Grandma's Killer Fruitcake: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6bl38Usa4Ig and The Fruitcake Song by Jimmy Buffet--with one of the funniest articles that I have ever written! :) http://www.apsense.com/article/113522.html [peaceful]

how about whitney houston - i wanna dance with somebody! [Emma30587]
I shudder to think, CanadaGal! Probably more like the Golden Girls, LOL! :) [peaceful]

Tiny Tim singing Tip Toe Through The Tulips! ROFL First time I saw him on Johnny Carson with his long rippling hair and tiny ukelele I about fell out of the bed! I have never ever forgotton it! [sparkofinsanity]
LOL CG, I only sing it when I'm REALLY stoned! Drives people nuts, so yeah - the most annoying song of all time, especially if you can do Tiny Tim's falsetto! ROFL [sparkofinsanity]

Well, when I saw scorpiobabes' nice long list and knowing that she has a big musical backgrd (from reading previous post) I thought sure she'd have Marianne Faithful - Broken English, in her list. Or did you not mean cheesy - dirty cheesy? If you're easily offended, stay clear of Marianne - "Brain Drain" i think it was called..haha [plunketear]
Just dug it out...Broken English... - the number I was thinking about was "Why'd Ya Do What You Did?" (I think, don't have album credits handy) - actually a very good number, but not well known and not cool to play in mixed company or with kids around.. very very nasty, makes modern day rap sound like a walk in the park, lol [plunketear]

" Don't Worry Be Happy" that is one that I think of a lot. It reminded me of just how a simple song can have meaning and yet be an annoying song. I also think that the song "Yellow Submarine" is cheesy! You might need to sell this CD when you are done with it. [carolscash]
I'd likely be able to come up with at least a double cd set, if not a boxed sex. lmao! [CanadaGal]

Howa bout Mr. Lover lover by Shaggy :) Or Brass Monkey :) [MandeeHarvey]

I AM having too much fun..how about Eddie Murphy's Party All the Time? I keep hearing the refrain bouncing around my head...yikes! [scorpiobabes]
I couldn't resist...I had to see if this was the song I was thinking of when you typed the title and band name...Boom Boom Acka Lacka Boom! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeNbJQ6naJs I'm so evil, aren't I?wink [scorpiobabes]

My son suggested this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=PPhfZiNZKD4 [smallT]
The opening scene...comes in, talking ghetto and then you see him leaving...there's nothing like a big man on a little moped, is there? I was laughing so hard, I just couldn't even listen to the rest of the video! [scorpiobabes]

How about"like a virgin"lol!madge rules! [punkgurl73]

Right said fred was cheesey wsn't he lol. I would have to say "Dare to be stupid"- Wierd Al and "It's time for the percolator"- Cajmere The wheels on the bus go round and round? [Lock_Heed]

Ya, I made one of those for my brother for his 50th birthday to remind him of all the stuff we used to listen and thought was cool. Tiptoe thru the tulips...tiny tim. The brady bunch theme song, I wanna hold your hand, beatles...sugar sugar..the archies......Chickaboom...daddy dewdrop, I don't eat animal, melanie. The list is endless. I'm henry the 8th...hermits hermits. Need more? We used to listen to and memorize the corniest songs and then would sing them....probably just to be annoying. I got you babe...sonny & cher. [sid556]
Those are some good ones. :) Another fun one that most people know and loves is the Everly Brothers' "You've lost that loving feeling". I've added "Sugar Sugar" to the cd list. [CanadaGal]

Milli Vanilli had a few I liked. MC Hammer Can't Touch This was another. I am older so I guess pick just about anything top 40 from the eighties and there you have it. The eighties and maybe early nineties were the glory days of music! [mscott]
We can't count Milli Vanilli...they were lipsynching! But thanks for putting Can't Touch This into my head...I've got to get back to YouTube and find something better to repeat endless before sleep! You evil, evil person! rasp [scorpiobabes]

There's something about that stupid "Don't Worry Be Happy" song that makes you hum along and join in when he sings the main verse! LOL [hockeygal4ever]
Yeah...I remember when they were bringing him on Sesame Street to sing to the little kids! My daughter used to love that song...and then she got some musical taste! [scorpiobabes]

Yes I have an ultimate cheesy song and that is What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. It reminds me of when I was young and first heard it and it always makes me feel good about life. I can relate to the words and I think it is a great celebration of life. My mother hated it because she could not stand Louis Armstrong's voice, but I always loved the sound of it. He sounds like someone who knows how to live and he sounds as if he really means the words he sings. Ohhhh yeaaahh.... [paid2write]

I like cheesy!!?? "Allways look on the bright side of life" I dont know who sings it? "Im a barbie girl" There are so many its hard to remember? [Gollywog]
Thanks thats great, I will be checking it out. [Gollywog]

my fav song is 50 cent's candy shop..i like it alot :)i can recommend u to add 50 cent song,if u not do hate to him [vehla_jatt_4_u]
i like...enrique..rhythm divin.. [cyberkunal]

There are two my hubby and son love Bumble Bee Tuna by Mephiskapheles and Nice Weather for Ducks by Lemon Jelly. They are funny, cute, cheesy songs. [slcharger]

Oh yes, I have several I like. Some are even old ones. One I grew up with at Halloween was "Monster Mash" - love it. I also like "Don't worry, be happy." Years ago some friends and I did a silly skit to that song for a company party. Everyone laughed til they cried. And then there is one (not sure of the title) "I'm a B!tch, I'm a lover" by Alanis Morresett. Sorry, my spelling sucks today. LOL I'm sure there are others, but these come to mind first. [TessWhite]
Ah yes.. the monster mash is a definite classic! [CanadaGal]

Well, let's see-I'm a huge, and I mean huge fan of Barry Manilow and I'm pretty sure all of his songs are cheesy-but my fav is Mandy-or I write the songs. Supermodel by RuPaul Wonderful Tonite by Eric Clapton Unforgettable by Nat King Cole-no Natalie Cole You are so Beautiful-Joe Cocker Anything by Air Supply I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher Sweet Caroline or Heartlight by Neil Diamond Almost anything by Barbra Striesand That Christmas song about the red shoes Don't Take the Girl by Tim McGraw Austin by Dierks Bently (I think) Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper Gosh I could go on but I'll stop now. [heatherhedyjon]
I guess I'm an anti-romantic so I always think of cheesy as romantic songs. Let's see-I'm sure you've thought of the Electric Slide, Boot Scooting Bootie, and the Marcarena. Supermodel is upbeat. How about Dancing Queen by Abba? Or I love Monty Python so how about the Meaning of Life? [heatherhedyjon]

I cannot think of any cheesy song. I sort of think of it as stupid songs, and except for the ones done by Weird Al that are parodies none of them are that stupid. So I will have to search for cheesy songs on the net and see if I recall any of them. It has been quite a while since I listened for the best of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Oh I can think of one,"Tell Donna I love her," and "Leader of the Pack." As it says, I have not been listening to that much popular music. [suspenseful]

I love Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Who Let the Dogs Out, Don't Worry Be Happy, and Walk Like an Egyptian. [kellys3ps]

Definitely "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor. It's the ultimate cliche song. Another one that's a little odd is the "The Price is Right" theme song. So fun! [eXxodus]

I love "Who let the dogs out" Mine is "The Hamster Dance". whistle [MH4444]

"YMCA", "The Locomotion", "Judy's Turn to Cry", "The Streak" these aren't necessarily my favorites but some that I thought of [idowrite72]

It has to be Father Abraham and the Smurf song closely followed by Una Poloma Blanca. Oh happy nights spent in an Austrian disco....... [p1kef1sh]

Hmmm maybe "Bust A Move" by Young MC. That's cheesy in a funky way since Flea from RHCP is on bass lol. Love it......oh and Dee-Lite's "groove is in the heart". i love bopping away to those songs. :-) [signum]

Hi CG: I haven't heard about Weird Al for a long time. I like everything he sings. Have a great day. Ivor [TheSpy]

Destiny's Child," I'm a survivor." "Don't worry be happy" was an old one One I never liked was: "Whip it good." "YMCA" had some crowd appeal. "You make me want to shout..." was one that got a lot of people singing. [whiteheron]

Great list! "I Will Survive" is my cell phone ring tone. It is my theme song right now. I also like "Copacabana." It always makes me feel like dancing. I like to listen to it when I'm washing dishes. [KATRINKA]

You could be onto something there! lol. Not my thing, but I'm sure there are 'cheesy' music lovers who would line up for a copy! [newzealtralian]
