727

727 I have a big block duster with a 727 running a stock torque converter I can only brake torque it to about 1200 1400 rpm I am looking at aftermarket converters and would like some input on stall speed Here are my car engine specs 030 over 400 big block 9 1 compression Edelbrock performer rpm intake w 750 Holley vacuum secondary carb

The 727 used either a 10 75 or an 11 75 converter so the bell housing is larger at the bottom and deeper at both the top and the bottom The starter ring gear is also larger The starter itself mounts in a slightly different position as well so things like headers might work on one and not work on the other There was an article about using Dexron6 in the 727 904 s that originally recommended DexronII It was discussed on the forum I think most agreed with the article that a 727 904 that originally DexronII was recommended you could switch to ATF 4 or Dexron6 both would be a better fluid

Early A 727s had dual pumps but for the 1966 cars and trucks they dropped the rear pump probably to reduce costs The A 727 and A 904 were very different from the A 488s sharing no parts Starting with the 1964 cars a heftier version of the A 904 was produced to work with the company s lower performance V8 engines So I have a 1982 D150 with a bad 225 slant 6 I just got a 318 in decent shape practically for free Both trucks have a 727 TorqueFlite transmission but I m pretty sure they have different bolt patterns Any advice on fixes bellhousings or advice on a

Professionally rebuilt 727 lokar kickdown cable kit Little backstory I took the Ramcharger apart with my Dad and over 10 years we put it back together Frame on restoration type of thing My issue I m having trouble shifting between 2 and 3 I essentially have to let off the gas to let it shift or it screams for mercy under load Drivers activated the sprag by sliding a lever The other cars had a driveshaft brake and didn t use the sprag The 1962 midsized cars with A 727 automatics gained the Park lever and drum parking brakes and the 1963 full size cars followed A second cable was used for the park sprag when it was used
