I have these 2 pictures that are transparent background Buyt in photo 2 its threated as checkered white and black If i copy paste one over the other it brings a checkered background and not transparent Also how to select the image that is not the transparent background I have tried the cog wheel thing dragging the left side square bars When you open a JPEG in AD2 or any other Affinity app there won t be any transparency because the JPEG format doesn t support it but if you introduce transparency into the image e g with the Erase Brush Tool and export to PNG format the transparent areas will remain transparent in the exported image

In other programs that I ve used if you make a selection in an upper layer and do edit cut then the area corresponding to the selection is made transparent This doesn t appear to happen in Affinity Photo If I make a selection in an existing image and click on Mask Layer it appears that the inverse of the selection is made transparent My client sent me the attached logo and wants it presented on their website with a transparent background I ve followed some instructions I found in an Affinity forum but although the white disappears the background isn t transparent see 2nd image Advice

In either app you can set white transparent using Blend Ranges You can access it by clicking the cog symbol next to Blend modes selection in Layers palette Now how this helps printing is another question as printers usually assume white no colour Some textile printers add white ink to cover background colour Depending on the size of your logo and the background color image you could also remove the white background on the fly by going to the Layers panel Blend Options the cog wheel button Source Layer Ranges Left node In approx 80 Out 100 Right node In 100 Out 0 That will make the white background transparent
